For me the moral standard on matters like this is how would I want people to treat my memory if I had been murdered on 9/11. In the first place, I would most definitely want the nation to be sure it knew all the facts before launching wars in my name. In the second place, I would want to have the real perps caught and punished. In the third place, I would not want to see my demise become a rallying point for warmongers or a symbol of thoughtless patriotism. I would not want to become part of a symbol of war.

That said, this "new Navy assault ship" that was "built with World Trade Center steel" actually only contains 7.5 tons of WTC steel. 1 ton of steel = 4.08 cubic feet. Thus, 7.5 tons of steel = approximately 30 cubic feet. The dimensions of 30 cubic feet can take many forms, but to aid visualization, its simplest compact shape would be just under 4' X 4' X 2'.

Yes, it's a symbol and it will move some people, but it doesn't work for me. Especially since I know that so little WTC steel was used because all of the rest of the steel from those buildings was illegally sold as scrap, shipped to Asia, and melted down long ago. ABN
