Still looking for some way to slide this bill past the public. Think about it--they want to spy illegally on American citizens, they want carte blanche to do that whenever, wherever, and to whomever they please, they do not want even minimal FISA oversight, they want retroactive immunity for all involved, and they want to do all of this in a secret session. WASHINGTON (AP) — The House held a closed session Thursday for the first time in 25 years to discuss a hotly contested surveillance bill.
Republicans requested privacy for what they termed "an honest debate" on the new Democratic eavesdropping measure that is opposed by the White House and most Republicans in Congress.
...Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., said "there was nothing new, nothing that wasn't public, nothing that can't and shouldn't be debated on the floor tomorrow in open session."
